Dr. Frank R. Egan was born and raised on the south shore of Long Island. He has strong family ties to the community with his parents, his sisters and their families all living nearby. Frank, his wife Christine and their children (Frank III, Emily and Jack) have a home in Bayport.

Dr. Egan graduated from Connetquot High School and studied biology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He received a Bachelor of Science degree Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. After college, Dr. Egan attended the School of Dental Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He graduated first in his class and received numerous awards for outstanding accomplishments in academics, research and patient care. With his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in hand, Dr. Egan continued his orthodontic education as a resident in the Postgraduate Orthodontic Program at the School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Egan has acquired over 1,000 hours of continuing dental education since graduating. In 2010, Dr. Egan became a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Children's Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Dr. Egan's original research has been published in The American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. He has lectured on various topics in orthodontics to professional groups including the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists.

In March of 2000, Dr. Egan was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in St. Louis, Missouri. Board Certification is a voluntary process and provides an extensive review of the orthodontist's basic education, as well as an intensive assessment of the orthodontist's clinical expertise. An orthodontist may become certified as a Diplomate of The American Board of Orthodontics upon the completion of a series of examinations over a period of many years. The Board was established in 1929 and is the only certifying board recognized by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association for the specialty of orthodontics. Certification as a Diplomate signifies a unique achievement. For more information, visit the websites of the American Board of Orthodontics and the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics.

In 2008, Dr. Egan brought the Northeast's first Smiles Change Lives (SCL) program to Long Island. SCL is a national nonprofit program dedicated to providing orthodontic care to economically disadvantaged children. To provide funding, Dr. and Mrs. Egan organize the Annual Smiles Change Lives Turkey Trot, a 5K run and 1.5mile walk through Blue Point on Thanksgiving morning. In 2010, Dr. Egan accepted an invitation to join the national board of Smiles Change Lives.

Dr. Egan's interest in the families of our community goes beyond orthodontics. Frank and Christine have helped couples prepare for marriage through the pre-cana program at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church. Every year, Dr. Egan sponsors the Bellport Clipper and other local races. He also runs in many of these races, and in September of 2007, he completed the First Annual Hampton's Marathon. During the winter, the Egans enjoys skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, they can be found sailing on the Great South Bay. In 2009, Dr. Egan became sponsor and coach of a FIRST Lego League team named Peaced Together. "It is a great opportunity to inspire young people to think about careers in science and technology and build the confidence to pursue those careers," said Dr. Egan.

Dr. Egan is celebrating his twentieth year practicing in East Patchogue. On this occasion, he says, "I'm very excited about the future of our practice. The best new technology combined with a tradition of kindness and caring allows us to consistently exceed the expectations of our patients. We have a great team of talented, caring people. Our patients really appreciate what we do for them."
